Antique Troop 1 Sign Dear Troop 1 Members, Today while out on an errand, I stop at a garge sale and bought a Troop 1 sign that appears to date to the 1940's or so. After reading your storied history I was wondering if this sign was related to your Troop. The confusing part is that it reads, "BSA, Troop 1, Setauket". There is one area in your history, before you moved your Cabin to Wading River, where the actual site of your camp is not disclosed. Can anyone tell me if you indeed had a camp in Setauket and if so, around what tiime period. If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of the sign please contact me at: artpsyched@yahoo.com. I never quite made it to Eagle Scout but was Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 427 in Levittown for several years and was tapped out up at Oneonta as a Life scout back in the 1970's. Thank you for any information you can provide. Best regards, Bill Scherl Submitted By: Bill Scherl

Dan Carter Beard Patches and tours of Flushing Meeting House Dear Scouts: Flushing Monthly of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Dan Carter Beard's meeting, would like to open its 1694 meeting house to Saturday tours by Scouts and other youth groups. Uncle Dan Beard was a Quaker and worshipped there for years. Most of the meeting house has not changed since its enlargement around 1743. It was used as prison, barracks and stable by the British Army in the Revolutionary War. George Washington visited it twice. We would also like to know if we can purchase any Dan Carter Beard patches from your supplies, or, if we may order some from your supplier. I am the meeting member who is organizing these Saturday youth groups tours. I am also a Crew Committee member of Venture Crew 1444, Northern New Jersey Council. Yours, James J.
